Earn With Your Moto-Bike in Georgetown: How Bike Trips Work on Intra Cab

Anyone who has sat on the East Bank road at half past four, or tried to get from Kitty to Stabroek in the rain when every minibus is full, knows why a bike gets through Georgetown faster than a car. Intra Cab lets riders ask specifically for a moto-bike. What it doesn't have yet is enough bikes to answer them.

Where things stand right now

Being straight with you: as of October 2026, the drivers on Intra in Guyana are cars and buses. When a rider ticks Moto-Bike on a request, it mostly goes unanswered. That is a gap a handful of bike riders could own.

It matters because of how requests are routed. A trip only reaches drivers whose vehicle type matches what the rider asked for. A bike request goes to bike drivers only — you are not competing with cars for it, and right now there is almost nobody else in the queue.

How a bike trip works

  1. A rider posts a pickup and drop-off and selects Moto-Bike. The passenger count locks at one.
  2. You see it in Available Trips, with how far you are from the pickup, and send the price you'll do it for.
  3. The rider picks an offer. If it's yours, you get their contact details and head over.
  4. Cash in hand at the end of the trip. Intra takes no commission and never touches the money.

Pricing a bike trip

Nobody sets the fare for you, so think about what goes into a bike quote: the distance, the time of day, whether it's raining (a wet ride is worth more — or you skip it), and whether the route is a quick one down Mandela Avenue or a crawl along Regent Street at lunchtime.

Short hops across town in daylight are where a bike wins. Your fuel for a trip is a fraction of a car's, so you can quote under the cars and still clear more per kilometre than they do. Long runs out to Timehri with luggage are a car's job — leave those.

What you need

  • A licence that covers a motorcycle
  • A roadworthy bike, registered and insured
  • Two helmets — one for you and one for the passenger. The law requires them for both, and a rider will judge you on whether you have a spare the moment you pull up.
  • A smartphone with data, and ideally a handlebar mount so you can see the next request without stopping
  • Sign-up is the same as for any driver: phone number, a selfie holding your licence, and a photo of the bike. The full list is in what you need to drive for Intra Cab.

Where bike trips come from

Central Georgetown and the roads that feed it: Stabroek and the Regent Street and Robb Street shopping blocks, Camp Street, the University of Guyana at Turkeyen, Sheriff Street in the evening, Giftland and the Movietowne area, and Ogle for people with one small bag. Add commuters along the East Coast and East Bank corridors who would rather weave past the queue at the Harbour Bridge than sit in it.

A request can come from anywhere in Guyana. Whether one comes through depends on a rider being near you at that moment.

The honest part

Intra is new in Guyana. Rider numbers are growing from a small base, and bike requests are a fraction of that. This is not a "quit your job" story. It is: install it, keep it on while you're already out, and quote on what comes. It costs nothing and there is no exclusivity.

On bikes specifically, being early matters more than usual. A rider who requests a bike once and gets no offer stops ticking the box. A rider who gets a fast, fair offer keeps coming back — and tells the next person at the stand.
