Driving for Intra Cab in Metro Manila: Set Your Own Price, Keep 100% of It

If you drive in Metro Manila, you know the shape of the problem. One app sets the fare, the app takes its share, fuel takes another, and what you take home at the end of the day is whatever is left — with EDSA in between. Intra Cab works the other way round. You see the request, you decide what the trip is worth, and whatever the rider pays you in cash is yours — no commission taken off the top.

Intra Cab is new in the Philippines as of October 2026. There are almost no drivers on it here yet. That is a weakness we are not going to hide, and, as you will see below, it is also the reason the first drivers in each area get the most out of it.

How it works, step by step

  1. Switch into driver mode and open Available Trips. You'll see ride requests from riders near you — Cubao to Makati, Ortigas to BGC, Quezon City to NAIA Terminal 3, whatever people around you are posting.
  2. Decide your price. Each request shows the pickup, the drop-off and how many passengers, before you quote. You know what fuel costs this week, what C5 looks like at this hour, and whether the Skyway is worth the toll for this trip. Put a peso figure on it that makes the trip worth your while.
  3. The rider picks an offer — yours, or a competing driver's. If yours is accepted, you get the rider's contact details and head to the pickup.
  4. Get paid in cash, trip by trip. No wallet, no cash-out day, no commission line disappearing from your total. What the rider hands you is what you keep.

Why bidding is better for the driver

A fixed fare from an algorithm does not know that this particular trip means an hour on EDSA in the rain, or that the toll on the Skyway comes out of your pocket, or that you would rather not head to Alabang at 11pm unless the price makes it worth it. When you set your own offer, all of that is priced in by the person who actually knows — you.

It also means your earnings are not capped by someone else's formula, and they do not move when a platform runs a promotion. If a price is too low, you do not offer it. If a rider wants a reliable, well-rated driver and is willing to pay a fair rate for one, your rating does the talking.

Car, van or motorcycle

Intra has three vehicle types: Car, Bus and Motorcycle. A rider chooses one when they post a request, and the request only goes to drivers of that type.

  • Car is where most requests come from — everyday trips across the metro.
  • Motorcycle is a live option in the app, for riders and drivers. We should be plain about the Philippines, though: unlike most countries, motorcycle taxis here already have established apps — Angkas, JoyRide, Move It and Maxim — operating under the government's motorcycle-taxi pilot in Metro Manila, Metro Cebu and Cagayan de Oro, with a fleet cap and accredited operators. Offering paid motorcycle rides outside an accredited platform is not authorised, and in cities outside the pilot it is not permitted at all. Intra doesn't change that. If you are an accredited rider wondering whether this applies to you, that is a question for your operator and the LTFRB, not for us.
  • Bus covers vans and larger vehicles for groups travelling together.

There is no separate tricycle type, so a tricycle or trisikad doesn't have an exact match in the app today. We would rather say that plainly than promise something that isn't there.

Getting started as a driver

To start driving on Intra Cab in the Philippines you need:

  • A valid Philippine driver's licence (verified with a quick selfie-with-licence check when you sign up — riders only ever see your face, never the licence)
  • A vehicle — car, motorcycle or van — that is registered and insured as the law requires
  • A photo of the vehicle, and ideally its OR/CR
  • A smartphone with data and a Philippine number (+63) — your number is your login, there is no password

Once your identity and vehicle are verified, usually within minutes, you can switch into driver mode any time. No minimum hours, no quota, no boundary. The full list, in the order the app asks for it, is in what you need to drive for Intra Cab in the Philippines.

Where things stand right now, honestly

Grab has had Metro Manila largely to itself since 2018, with Angkas, JoyRide and Move It on the motorcycle side and inDrive and others working to get a foothold. They have years of head start and real rider numbers. Intra has neither yet. So this is not a "delete the other apps" story. Keep driving for whoever you drive for now, install Intra alongside it, and quote on what comes through. It costs nothing, there is no exclusivity, and every trip that does come through, you keep whole.

Being early matters more here than it sounds. A request goes to the nearest available drivers of the matching type. With almost nobody in the queue, a driver in Quezon City or Pasig today is not competing with two hundred others for a request — they are often the only offer the rider sees. A rider who gets a fast, fair offer comes back and tells the next person. That is how the base in each area gets built, and the drivers who build it are the ones who benefit from it.

Tips for winning more offers

  • Respond fast. You get a push notification for each new trip near you, and a WhatsApp message if you haven't reacted within a minute, so you can quote from wherever you're parked.
  • Price fairly, not just low. A reasonable price from a well-rated, responsive driver often beats a slightly cheaper one from an unknown.
  • Put up a clean photo of the car. Riders see it next to your offer. Daylight, no clutter, plate readable.
  • Keep your rating up. It builds over trips and it is the main reason a rider picks you over someone a little cheaper.
