If you've ever opened a rideshare app during rain, rush hour, or a big event and watched the price triple in front of your eyes, you already know the problem with surge pricing: you never really know what you're going to pay until the app decides for you.
IntraCab works differently. There's no surge multiplier, no algorithm quietly marking up your fare because demand is high. Instead, drivers set their own price on every single trip, and you choose the offer that works for you.
How it actually works
- You request a ride. Tell IntraCab where you are and where you're going — by car, moto-bike, or bus, whichever fits your trip.
- Nearby drivers see your request and send real price offers. Each driver decides what they're willing to do the trip for, based on distance, traffic, and their own judgment — not a formula none of us can see.
- You pick the offer you want. You're not stuck with whatever number the app gives you. If one driver's price feels high, you can wait for another offer or accept a different one.
- You get your driver's info and go. Once you accept, you see who's coming, and you pay them directly in cash when the trip is done. IntraCab never touches your money.
Why we built it this way
A fixed algorithmic fare sounds convenient until the moment it isn't — the night it's raining, the evening after a concert lets out, the morning your usual ride option decides today's multiplier is 2.5x. Riders have no real say in that moment. Drivers don't either, since the algorithm sets their earnings too.
Bidding puts control back where it belongs. Riders can compare real offers instead of trusting a single number. Drivers can price their own time and fuel costs instead of accepting whatever the platform decides they're worth today.
Does this mean I always get the cheapest price?
Not necessarily — and that's the point. You might see one offer that's a little higher but from a highly-rated driver who can be there in two minutes, and another that's cheaper but ten minutes out. It's your call, every time, not a formula's.
What this looks like day to day
Most trips get their first offer within moments of being requested — drivers in Georgetown and Paramaribo are actively browsing available requests, so a normal ride doesn't take long to get a price. If you don't love the first offer, you're free to wait for another one to come in before deciding.
No surprise multipliers. No fare that changes because it started raining while you were waiting. Just real drivers, real prices, and you making the call.
